Southern Sinfonia at the other end of the age spectrum...

Southern Sinfonia is one of the few orchestras that actively goes out and spends time with the older members of its community. We believe music is for all ages and that access to transport or mobility should not affect anyone's ability to enjoy and experience music.

Our commitment to the community is extremely broad. We consider ourselves a community-based organisation on every level and are constantly looking for opportunities to enhance the day-to-day lives of all ages through music- "from two to ninety two".

Therefore, together with the organisation's extensive education programme, we try to take music to the other end of the age spectrum as well. In this way, we actively visit a number of care homes throughout the South, to include Lambourn Court in Newbury and Brendan Care in Southampton.

These visits are especially important at Christmas, when we play much-loved seasonal music and carols for the residents. The latter of which are always a big hit.
