Step into the Picture...was one of the most amazing things i've ever seen onstage. A glimpse of what heaven might be like

Winchester University Collaborations

Step into the Picture

As part of Southern Sinfonia's close relationship with the University of Winchester, the orchestra regularly works with the Music and Theology departments.

Step into the Picture, a work 20110622124748-BT.conducting.pngdevised and composed by Reverend Professor June Boyce-Tillman, based on the artwork of the life of Jesus by Paul Forsey, provides an excellent example of just one of our collaborative projects with the University.

Step into the Picture is an interdisciplinary project involving music, drama, improvisation and the visual arts, utilising both newly composed and traditional material from a variety of cultures.

The piece presents the story of Jesus in a non-devotional way, enabling both church and secular schools to step into the story of Jesus in a number of imaginative ways involving song, instrumental pieces and episodes composed by the children themselves.
